“The Localization” in IT industry has become very important in the process of its development. Every person in the society should have access to information technology and its related services. Using local languages to introduce new technology has proven better results. GURULK.COM is an attempt of an ICT localization in Sri Lanka. Through this web site I try to teach ICT in Sinhala language. I suppose that would be benefited to most people who want to learn computing. This has become the primary objective of the e-learning project.

Secondarily, I hope learners would be encouraged to use the World Wide Web for learning activities. E-learning has become one of the main streams of learning in the western world and in developed nations. So using the internet for learning would become more popular among our people too. This also let people to share their knowledge and resources more effectively.

ගුරු වෙබ් අඩවියේ මූලික පරමාර්ථයන් වන්නේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය වැනි සංකීර්ණ විෂයක් සිංහල භාෂාවෙන් සරළ ආකාරයට සිංහල තේරුම් ගත හැකි සමාජයට හදුන්වා දීමයි. ඉංග‍‍්‍රීසි භාෂාව සමග බොහෝ විට බද්ධ වී ඇති තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය හා පරිගණක පිළිබඳ විෂය කරුණු සිංහල භාෂාවෙන් සමාජගත කිරීම මෙම වෙබ් අඩවියේ මූලික පරමාර්ථයන්ගෙන් එකක් ලෙස සැලකිය හැකි වේ.

බොහෝ දෙනා මුදල් වියදම් කර තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය ඉගෙන ගැනීමට පෙළතඹීම අපට සමාජයේ දැකිය හැකි වේ. සහතිකපත‍‍්‍ර පාඨමාලා සහ ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලා වශයෙන් ලේබල යොදා ගෙන මෙලෙස බොහොමයක් පරිගණක පාඨමාලා මුදලට විකිණීම සිදුවේ. මෙම පාඨමාලාවලින් වැඩි ප‍‍්‍රමාණයකම උගන්වනු ලබන්නේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය හා සම්බන්ද ඉතා මූලික විෂය කරුණු පමණී. ඉතා සුළු පාඨමාලා සංඛ්‍යාවක පමණක් තරමක් හෝ සංකීර්ණ විෂය කරුණු ඉගැන්වීම සිදු කරනු ලබයි. නමුත් එවැනි පාඨමාලා සොයාගැනීම පවා අද ඉතා අපහසු කර්තව්‍යයකි. අනෙක් කාරණය වන්නේ බොහෝ දෙනා පරිගණක පාඨමාලා තෝරාගන්නේ එහි පාඨමාලා අන්තර්ගතය පිළිබඳ හරිහැටි අවබෝධයක් නොමැතිවය. එබැවින් බොහෝවිට අධික මුදලක් ගෙවීමෙන් ඔබට ඉගෙන ගැනීමට සිදුව ඇත්තේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය හා සම්බන්ධ මූලික විෂය කරුණු පමණී.

ගුරු වෙබ් අඩවිය ඔස්සේ නොමිලේම ඔබට තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය හා සම්බන්ධ මූලික විෂය කරුණු ඉගෙන ගැනීමට හැකියාව ලැබී ඇත. එබැවින් තවදුරටත් ඔබට මූලික විෂය කරුණු ඉගෙන ගැනීමට මුදල් වියදම් කිරීමට අවශ්‍යය නොවේ. එම මුදල් ඔබට වඩා සංකීර්ණ විෂය කොටස් ඉගෙන ගැනීම සඳහා වියදම් කළ හැකි වේ. මෙවැනි පසුබිමක් තුළ පරිගණක පාඨමාලා පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබන අධ්‍යයාපනික ආයතන වලට තවදුරටත් පහළ මට්ටම්වල, මූලික විෂය කරුණු අන්තර්ගත පාඨමාලා මුදලට විකිණීම අපහසු වෙනු ඇත. එබැවින් ඔවුන්ට තමන්ගේ පාඨමාලාවල ගුණාතාමක බව වැඩි කිරීමට සිදුවනු ඇත. එය අප රටේ තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණ දැනුම ප‍්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා බෙහෙවින් දායක වේ යැයි සිතිය හැක.
